CANBY IMPLEMENT SHED

Barns and sheds were part of a rural landscape. These outbuildings are sometimes easy to identify since they are specifically designed for just one use, like ice houses, tobacco drying barns, poultry houses, root cellars, smoke houses and milk houses.

An implement shed such as this would be used to store horse drawn farm machinery of all sorts:

 - Disc plow

 - Hay rake

 - Grain binder

 - Slush scraper

 - Wagon

 - Harrows

                                              ...and much more.

Fast Facts

  • Built circa 1898 this barn was located on Lakeshore Road near Burnaby

  • It was typical to have an implement or drive shed found on farms during this era

  • Donated by Eugene Canby
