THE WEAVERY

A person who makes fabric by weaving fiber together is a weaver.

Most weavers use a loom, a device that holds the threads tightly as they're being woven.

Fast Facts

  • The loom you see here was built circa 1800

  • The loom was originally housed in Jim Young’s homestead on Young’s Road in Wainfleet

  • Jim’s grandfather, Joseph wove blanker learned to weave at the age of 11. He wove blankets and rag rugs on it

  • The loom was donated by Jim & Miriam Young
